LAHORE, May 12: Three goals by Taimur Ali Malik propelled Guard Rice to a 6-3 win over Tri Star in Equestrian Cup polo on Thursday. The winners made a fine start leading the first chukker 3-1. Taimur struck his first goal crowning a field attempt. Jawad Jamil Malik and Naveed M Sheikh slammed a goal each as Guard went 3-0 up before Shahzad Aziz reduced the margin, converting a 30-yard penalty hit.

Both teams missed chances in the second chukker as no goal was scored. But Guard struck hard in the third chukker scoring three goals in a row to surge 6-1 ahead.

Taimur scored back-to-back goals while Naved M Sheikh banged home his second. In the fourth chukker, Tri Star retaliated but could score only two goals to reduce the margin. Shoaib Aftab scored both goals.
