TIMERGARA: The parents and relatives of an eight-month-old child hailing from Lachi Lawang area of Bajaur Agency on Friday alleged that the child died due to negligence of a doctor on duty at the emergency ward of DHQ hospital, Timergara.

According to Musa Khan, he brought his son with chest pain to the DHQ hospital where he was admitted to the emergency ward. He alleged that the doctor on duty remained busy talking on phone and did not check his child properly due to which he expired.

The relatives put the child’s body on road in front of the hospital and chanted slogans against the hospital management. They demanded of the health department to take action against the duty doctor.

The hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Anwar Zada, meanwhile, rejected the allegations of negligence and said the child was admitted to the MSF red room of the hospital in a critical condition. He said the child had a history of congenital cardiac disorder with breathing complaints. He said the medics and doctor had started pulmonary resuscitation when the child collapsed. He said a children specialist was also called, but in the meantime the child expired. The MS said the patient was brought to the hospital too late.

SPORTS KITS: The Lower Dir administration on Friday provided sports kits to inmates of Timergara district jail. District sports officer Bahadar Said and assistant commissioner Ashfaq Ahmad visited the jail and handed sports kits over to the superintendent with the directives to distribute them among the prisoners. The kits included that of volleyball, football, cricket and badminton.
