LAKKI MARWAT: Instead of brining any change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government compelled Pakhtuns to stage sit-ins outside the residence of PTI chief Imran Khan in Islamabad for acceptance of their genuine demands, said ANP provincial president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti.

Addressing a public meeting in Naurang here on Sunday, he said that the only change the residents of militancy-hit province witnessed was to go to Islamabad and hold protest demonstrations outside the residence of Imran Khan.

“The so-called champion of change is not concerned about the problems faced by Pakhtuns, especially the residents of southern districts,” he added.

Senator Baz Mohammad Khan, former MPA Yasmeen Zia and ANP district president Sadruddin Marwat also addressed the public meeting. On the occasion, Hayatullah Kakakhel along with relatives and supporters announced to join ANP.

Mr Hoti said that provincial rulers should tell the people as to what kind of change they brought during the last over four and half years. He alleged that the PTI chief wanted to deceive people through his false promises and slogans of change.

He also criticised PTI leaders for their silence over rape and murder incidents of women and children in the province.

Mr Hoti criticised Chief Minister Parvez Khattak for not visiting the house of slain medical student Asma Rani and his government’s failure to arrest the prime suspect in the murder case.

He said that he would soon visit FR Lakki and other southern districts to address public gatherings and workers conventions to expose the government.

Later, the ANP leader visited the residence of Asma Rani in Naurang and offered fateha for her departed soul. He condemned her murder and showed sympathies the bereaved family.

FUNDS: The local government representatives from southern districts have threatened to stage a sit-in outside the provincial assembly if the government failed to release funds for village and neighbourhood councils until Feb 19.

The warning came at a meeting held in Gandi Khankhel Chowk here on Saturday. The office-bearers of nazims associations from southern districts, including Khalid Riaz, Shah Khalid and Syed Alam from Bannu, Hizbullah and Farmanullah from Lakki Marwat, Ejaz Qamar and Tariq Akhwand from Karak and Wali Khan Bettanni and Maqbool Anwar from Tank were in attendance.
