Bar rally today

LAHORE, May 11: The Lahore High Court Bar Association has announced that it will organize a rally on Thursday (today) showing solidarity with journalists who were subjected to police baton-charge in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi on May 3.

Bar secretary Shehram Sarwar Chaudhry said on Wednesday that the rally would remain confined to the bar premises as a token of support to just demands of the working journalists. The rally would be followed by a general body meeting, he added.

The rally was undertaken through a resolution which the LHCBA adopted on May 7.

The bar was scheduled to hold such a rally on Wednesday but deferred it for one day for ‘certain cogent reasons.’ A big police contingent was seen deployed on both sides of The Mall around the LHC building in the morning. When the bar office-bearers changed the programme, the police retired.
