Legendary Sufi singer Abida Parveen and American pop star Jason Derulo will headline the glitzy opening ceremony that will kick off the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Dubai on February 22.

Also enthralling fans at the ceremony will be local heart-throbs Ali Zafar and Shehzad Roy, a press release of the artists line-up issued by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday said.

Zafar, the voice of PSL, has produced the official anthem of PCB's flagship T20 league for the third year running.

An impressive display of fireworks will accompany the entertainment acts of the ceremony that will commence at 8pm PST at the Dubai International Stadium.

The glittering event will be followed by the opening match of the tournament between defending champions Peshawar Zalmi and new entrants Multan Sultans.

Tickets for the tournament can be purchased at www.q-tickets.com/psl2018.

A total of 34 matches will be played across different venues in Dubai, Sharjah and Lahore. The final is to be held in Karachi on March 25, according to the PSL schedule.

During the season, all teams will play against each other twice before the top four teams qualify for the play-off stage.

Last year, the PSL Season 2 final was held at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium amid tight security.

The successful staging of that game on Pakistani soil is believed to have played a major part in convincing a World XI side and Sri Lanka to tour the country later that year.
