KHAIRPUR: Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said those who are attacking Chinese citizens in Pakistan are in fact trying to sabotage the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and his government will take strict action against them.

He observed this while talking to the media on Tuesday after offering condolence to Pakistan Peoples Party MPA Pir Fazal Shah Jeelani in Ranipur on the death of his brother Pir Taqi Shah Jeelani.

PPP Sindh president and Senior Provincial Minister Nisar Khuhro, Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal, provincial Minister for Industries Manzoor Hussain Wassan and others accompanied the chief minister on the occasion.

Mr Shah said there would be no leniency for those who were disturbing peace and added they would be dealt with an iron hand.

He further said that an inquiry committee comprising impartial police officers was formed and the suspended Malir SP, Rao Anwar, should present himself before it and let the court decide the matter.

In reply to a question, he said the MQM developed differences before forming any coalition.

“Their (MQM’s) previous coalition with the PSP lasted a few hours,” he observed.

Talking about the upcoming Senate election, the CM said the polls will be held under secret balloting and added that the PPP’s opponents, who were levelling allegations of changing party loyalties, did not have confidence in their own candidates.

Mr Shah was of the view that the current assemblies will complete their terms in May and the general election will be held on time which the PPP will win.

While discussing law and order, he said Sindh was better than other provinces in terms of peace and harmony, and advised PML-N leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to stop blaming the PPP.
