CHARSADDA: The police arrested a schoolteacher here on Monday on charges of attempted sexual assault on a seven-year-old girl inside a school at Shodag area near Mandani.

A spokesperson of Charsadda police told Dawn that FIR of the occurrence had been registered at Mandani police station under different sections of PPC and Child Protection and Welfare Act.

He said the child was taken for medical examination, which was in negative, stating that the girl was not raped.

The complainant, who is father of the alleged victim, claimed that his daughter had gone to nearby shop to purchase toffees. The father has alleged that the shopkeeper, who is also a teacher at a nearby primary school, enticed the child and took her inside the school.

The complainant said his daughter returned after sometime while crying and told him and her mother about the incident.

He stated that afterwards they decided to approach the police to lodge a complaint against the accused.
