DERA MURAD JAMALI: Two students of a primary school were killed while a teacher was injured when another teacher “accidently” opened fire in a government-run school at a village in the Kot Magsi area of Jhal Magsi district on Thursday.

The incident took place at the Government Boys High School, Khirthar, Kot Magsi.

According to sources, a school teacher, identified as Nadir Ali, was inside the classroom when the firing started.

As a result, eight-year-old Rashid Ali Magsi received bullet injuries and died on the spot. Six-year-old Atizaz Ahmed Magsi and the other teacher were injured.

Levies rushed to the school and shifted the injured to the district hospital.

Atizaz succumbed to his injuries while being taken to Larkana for further treatment along with the teacher.

“Both students were shot in the upper parts of their bodies,” explained a source at the hospital.

The teacher who was injured in the firing was admitted to a hospital in Larkana. He was later identified as Muhammad Salah Magsi.

The bodies of the two students were handed over to their families after medico-legal formalities were completed.

Levies officials said that the firing was an accident. They added that the teacher was cleaning his pistol in the class when the incident took place.

Jhal Magsi Deputy Commissioner Amir Afzal said that a case had been registered against the suspect and Levies personnel were conducting raids for his arrest.

Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased opened fire on the brother of the suspect and left him seriously injured.

He was admitted to hospital.
