MULTAN: Police have arrested six suspects, including a lecturer of the Bahauddin Zakariya University, in connection with alleged rape of a female student of the varsity.

The arrests were made after an FIR (No 2/18) was lodged with the women police station under sections 376, 109, 506 and 25-D of the Telegraph Act on the complaisant of the female student, a resident of Hafiz Jamal Road.

The complainant told the police that one of her class fellows developed relations with her by making a false promise that he would marry her. She said the suspect made objectionable videos and pictures of her and later blackmailed her.

The complainant said a varsity teacher and four other students of the varsity also tried to develop relations with her through blackmail.

“All the nominated accused have been arrested and the police were interrogating them,” City Police Officer Sarfraz Falki said.

He said that so far no video or photograph of the complainant had been found in the mobile phones of the suspects.

“To know if they had deleted the videos and photographs, their mobile phones will be sent for forensic analysis,” he said.

He said as per initial investigations only the prime suspect had physical relations with the victim.
