MIRAMSHAH, May 8: Two people were killed when a bomb in their car went off in the Mirali sub-division of North Waziristan on Saturday night, officials said. Tehsildar Maqsood Hassan told Dawn that the incident took place at Toorikhel, about four kilometres south of Mirali bazaar. The car was completely damaged. Mirali is situated 30km north of Miramshah, the regional headquarters of North Waziristan.

He said that one of the dead had been identified as Samiullah Khan while the body of the other victim was badly mutilated and could not be identified. Investigations into the incident have been launched.

Meanwhile, three paramilitary checkpoints came under missile attacks in the area on Saturday night. However, no one was injured, officials said.

They said miscreants had fired at least seven missiles from unidentified locations in the remote area. Two missiles landed near the Gushet checkpoint, while five missiles were fired on the Eidak Palaseen and Kajuri checkpoints.
