LAHORE: Qul for veteran musician Ustad Nazar Hussain were held at Canal Burg near Thokar Niaz Beg on Monday.

He had breathed his last on Sunday after suffering from lung infection.

Ghazal legend Ghulam Ali, Ustad Tafu and Hamid Ali Khan were among those who attended the gathering.

Ustad Nazar Hussain remained associated with the Radio Pakistan and retired from its Central Production Unit. He also worked for the Pakistan Television.

He was initially trained in playing Sarood but later on turned to music direction.

Ustad Nazar started his career as a music director from the Radio Pakistan, Hyderabad.

He composed many popular ghazals, including raat phaili hay teray surmai anchal ki tarah and lutf who ishq mein paey hain sung by Noor Jehan and kutch din tou baso meri ankhon mein sung by Bilqees Khanum.

He was last seen singing Majeed Amjad’ ghazal jo din kabhi nahi beeta for Sachal Studios.

Ustad Nazar Hussain had contracted marriage with singer and actor Arifa Siddiqi and has a daughter with her.
