Newsmen urged to fight social evils

BADIN, Oct 13: Speakers at a commemorative function have urged the journalists to wage a war against the narcotics, gambling and other social evils which were on the rise in the district.

The representatives of different NGOs and newsmen paid rich tributes to late Mohammad Yaseen Arain, a senior journalist and a noted social worker of Badin, for his commitment to mass media and social work, at the function held here at the Aiwan-e-Sahafat on Friday.

The speakers belonging to different schools of thought said that Yaseen Arain throughout his career never compromised on principles.

They said that he possessed professional integrity which was reflected in his work and had greatly suffered for his commitment. He was compassionate and scrupulously honest and objective, they said.

The speakers emphasised that before filing stories, facts should be checked carefully.

Dr Musarrat Hussain, taluka Nazim Badin, Ghulam Mustafa Jamali, Prof Abdullah Mallah and others spoke on the occasion.
