MANSEHRA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Salahuddin Khan Mehsud has taken notice of the killing of a 10th grade student allegedly by her brother in Pulrah area here the other day and ordered exemplary punishment to the culprits.

The body of Neelum Bibi was found hanging in a room adjacent to the cattle pen of her residence in Khail village on Friday night.

Police inspector Jamal Zen told reporters on Sunday that the father of the victim girl, Mohammad Rafique, had stated in the FIR lodged with Pulrah police station that she committed suicide by hanging herself at their residence.

“But medial report confirmed that she was strangulated and we interrogated the family which revealed that she was killed by her brother, Amir Shah, and we have arrested him,” said the police official.

He said according to preliminary investigation suspects told police that the victim was used to quarrel with her brother’s wife.

He said medical report and other evidences in the case were shared with IGP after he took notice of the incident and directed district police officer Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari to take to justice those involved in the killing.

NAZIMS PLAN PROTEST: The village and neighbourhood nazims will launch an agitation against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government for its failure to release the development and non-development budget to the local governments for last several months.

“We have decided to organise conventions in Mansehra, Balakot and Oghi and then close our offices permanently by Feb 1,” Basharat Ali Swati, the general secretary of Nazmeen Ittehad, told reporters after a meeting on Sunday.

The meeting, which was chaired by president of Nazmeen Ittehad Mohammad Fareed, decided to launch an agitation against the provincial government, and urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of non-release of funds to local bodies.

Mr Swati said development projects were halted because of stoppage of budgetary allocations to village and neighbourhood councils.

“We have not received a single penny under development budget for the last six months and non-development budget for last one and a half year,” he said.

“The conventions will be attended by thousands of local government representatives from across the district,” said Mr Swati.
