Breach inundates villages

NAWABSHAH, May 7: A 70 feet-wide breach occurred on the left side of the Hala branch near Sakrand on Saturday. Several villages including Khuda Bux Mallah, Hassan Raho, Waryam Talpur, Waris Raho and Ghulam Nabi Raho were inundated.

Hundreds of maunds of harvested wheat and banana and cotton crop over 5,000 acre was badly affected.

Villagers shifted to safer places.

The flood water also hit the National Highway and Karachi-bound traffic was diverted to the alternate route.

The breach was being plugged till the filing of this report.
