PESHAWAR: The elders of Adamkhel tribe of Khyber Agency have expressed concern over the detention of six people of the tribe by the Orakzai Agency administration and demanded their release.

Speaking at a news conference here on Friday, Malik Irshad Afridi, who was leading a group of elders, said the tribal people had extended full cooperation to the government in the war against terror and vacated their localities during the counterinsurgency operations for restoration of peace, but the administration did not protect their assets in their absence.

“We were in camps as IDPs and the people of Orakzai Agency harvested our forests in Tirah Maidan. When our people tried to get back the possession of their forests and land the Orakzai Agency administration arrested six of them about two months ago,” the elder said.
