RAWALPINDI, Jan 6: A 10-year-old girl was killed in Rawat, and a young man murdered in Chauntra, police said on Sunday.
Zeeba was critically injured when a gun, which her cousin was cleaning, accidentally went off. The girl was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where she died.
“It was an accidental death,” a doctor at the DHQ hospital said.
In another incident, Shaukat Ali, 25, was shot dead in Chauntra. The motive behind the murder was not known.
The body was handed over to the relatives after postmortem.
VENDORS BOOKED: Police have booked vendors who quarrelled with the anti-encroachment staff of the Cantonment Board, Rawalpindi, police said.
The brawl took place when the anti-encroachment staff started removing the vendors from Bank Road, Saddar, as they were creating problems in the smooth flow of traffic.
Shakir Khan, an employee of the cantonment board, lodged an FIR with the cantonment police station, saying that the vendors abused them and showed resistance.
VEHICLES STOLEN: Six vehicles, including three cars, were stolen from different areas in Rawalpindi, police said on Sunday.
Col Arshad lodged a complaint with the police, saying that his car (IDA-1500) was stolen from Saddar. Iftikhar Mehmood’s Suzuki Khyber (AJKB-1221) was lifted from Lane 4, Peshawar Road and Raja Akmal Hussain’s car (LHM-2174) was stolen from Asghar Mall Scheme.
Mohammad Nawaz was deprived of his motorcycle (RIV-3209), while Sajid Mehmood’s motorcycle (RNK-1158) was stolen from the parking of Barani University. Dr Asif’s motorcycle (PRQ-702) was lifted from the parking of the Holy Family Hospital.
