Ali grabs title

LAHORE, May 2: Ali Mohammad of Sargodha won the final of 1500 metre race on the first day of the Punjab Sports Board Under-17 Inter-district athletics championships at Punjab Stadium on Monday. Ali Mohammad clocked four minutes 10.04 seconds to cover the distance.

Ali Imran of Jhang claimed the second while Mohammad Mushtaq of Bhakkar made to the third spot. Those who qualified for the 100 metre heats semifinals on the first day are: Fakhar Abbas, Ali Raza, Imran Ghafoor, Naseer Ahmed, Ali Hasan, Zulifqar Ahmed, Waqas Ahmad, Zeeshan Ali, Ibrar Ali Shah, Amjad Ali, Tariq Mahmood, Qamar Abbas, Mohammad Ramzan, Muhammad Mustafa, Muhammad Usman, Mohammad Naseer, Saleem Qamar, Mohammad Hayat, Ansar Mushtaq, Abdul Rasheed, Mohammad Basit, Wajid Hussain, Mohammad Ashfaq, Nasir Abbas.

Holders of first three positions of each event will receive Rs5,000, Rs3,000 and Rs2,000 each. The event concludes on May 6, with the finals of discus throw and triple jump on Tuesday.
