KARACHI, Oct 20: Eight ships carrying containers, soyabean meal and to load ethanol are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves relatively slow owing to delayed arrivals and as a result, only two ships, Izumo to unload and load containers and Panos-G to offload crude oil were berthed.

Sailing on the other hand was moderately active as four ships, Meed Keelung, Iran Broojerdi, Oriental Knisteria and Shalamar departed on Monday, while Gao He, Izumo, Corin Thiakos and Panos-G are due to sail out on Tuesday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side where a total tonnage of 66,253 tons comprising 5,500 tons of export cargo and 60,753 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Tuesday: Badulu Valley, with 3,100 tons of soyabean meal, Al-Maqwa, with high speed diesel, Oriental Salvia, with coconut fatty acid, Marinor, to load 4,000 tons of ethanol, Orient Stride, APL Emerald, Kota Waruna, Sinar Bangka, with containers and Zaid, to load 4,200 tons of rice.
