Demo against police held

KHAIRPUR, Aug 26: Residents of the Hindari Union Council held a protest demonstration in Thari Mirwah against the police on Tuesday.

Led by the union council Nazim, the villagers were protesting against the police for raiding the house of councillor Manzoor Hussain.

MALEH: DPO Fateh Sheer Joyo has said educated Maleh (wrestling) players will be employed in the police.

He was speaking as chief guest at a gathering of the players here on Tuesday after Malkhiro, which was held on the occasion of the four-day Urs of Sufi Noor Ali Shah Bukhari in the Rind Hajana village near Kot Diji.

The DPO said Maleh was a pure Sindhi wrestling and one of the ancient sport of the area.

He said an All Pakistan Malkhiro would be arranged in October at the Khairpur police ground.

musical academy: The first ever diploma offering musical academy, named after Sindh’s immortal classical singer, Ustad Manzoor Ali Khan, is beginning classes from next month.

The admissions to the Manzoor Ali Khan Musical Academy, established by the All Sindh Sangitkar Association, in collaboration with the district government at the Sachal Auditorium here, began the other day. The classes will commence from next month after its formal inauguration.

Three-month, six-month short courses and diploma course in classical music and instrument playing will be held in the academy.

Local singers will conduct classes and known singers and instrument players of the country would be included as visiting faculty.

The academy will also issue certificates for its courses.

MNA Syed Javed Ali Shah, Mukhtiar Malik, Adal Soomro, Nizam Zair, Qurban Mangi, Aftab Bukhari, Akhtar Dargahi, Mir Kazim Talpur, Sari Chand, and Hameed Rajpar have been nominated on the board of directors to run the academy.
