KARACHI: Guard breaks into bank

KARACHI, Aug 26: A security guard broke into a private bank in Clifton between Saturday and Sunday night and escaped with valuables after breaking the lockers.

Police said that the guard entered into the Union Bank located at Schon Circle and broke around 20 lockers of the customers.

The bank manager lodged an FIR at the Clifton police station. However, accurate worth of the foreign currency, jewellery and other valuables taken away during the robbery was not mentioned in the FIR, police said.

Police suspected security guard Ashraf, deputed at the bank, behind the robbery. The guard hailed from Peshawar. Police have detained another security guard for interrogation.

ACCIDENTS: A 12-year-old conductor of a minibus, Munir, was crushed to death in a road traffic accident in Kharadar.

Police said that two minibuses of routes M-1 and F-16 were speeding when Munir, the conductor of F-16 minibus, fell down and was crushed beneath the other minibus.

Police said that the accident occurred in front of the Edhi Centre, Tower. The errant driver, Saleem Chisti, was arrested following the accident.

In another accident, a young man died when his car was hit by a wagon on the National Highway near Steel Town late on Monday night.
