RAWALPINDI, Aug 25: The central vice-president of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz), Syed Zafar Ali Shah, has said the Kashmir rally case against the PML-N workers was politically motivated.

Recording his statement with the anti-terrorism court no 2 during the hearing of the Kashmir rally case, Mr Shah denied that the PML-N workers committed terrorism and disturbed public order during the rally.

  Zafar Ali Shah recorded a joint statement on behalf of all the 15 PML-N activists nominated in the case, including divisional general secretary of Muslim Students Federation (MSF), Mohammad Riaz Gujar, information secretary Siddiqul Farooq, Farooq Khattak, Shahid Riaz Satti and Syed Zaigham Ali Shah.

Mr Shah denied the allegations of Banni police that they had disturbed public order in Kohati Bazaar during a rally in June last year. At the time of the rally, Mr Shah said he, along with the party activists, was present at Raja Bazaar near Fawara Chowk, when all of a sudden police started baton-charging the rally participants. The PML-N leader said he and the party activists had not visited Kohati Bazaar on the rally day.
