BAHAWALPUR: The Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ), Ahmedpur East, becomes the first public sector healthcare facility in the country that has been awarded both the ISO-9001 and ISO-2015 certifications.

This was stated by the hospital Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Muhammad Aurangzeb here on Thursday.

According to the MS, the certifications were the result of the efforts made for improving the hospital over a period of more than a year.

Earlier, in January this year, the facility was ranked as the best performing THQ hospital in the province with regard to the internal health matters.

Dr Muhammad Aurangzeb, particularly mentioned the services of former deputy commissioner Dr Ehtasham Anwar Mahar and assistant commissioner Abdul Rauf, for preparing a comprehensive plan of reforming the THQ hospitals in the district.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had also recently awarded a certificate as well as cash prize to the MS in recognition of his services.

WALK: An anti-dengue walk was held from the Farid Gate to the DC Office to raise awareness among the public about the disease. It was attended by a large number of employees of different government departments.

PML-N: The PML-N organised a workers convention at Rasoolpur near Uch Sharif on Thursday.

In their speeches on the occasion, MNA Makhdum Ali Hassan Gilani, district council chairman Sheikh Dilshad Qureshi and others highlighted the PML-N government’s performance during the last four years and claimed the party would sweep 2018 elections in the country.
