RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has replaced the IG Prisons Punjab Mian Farooq Nazir with Mirza Shahid Saleem Baig who assumed charge of IG Prison on Friday.

Mian Farooq Nazir, the outgoing IG prison, has been directed to report to Services and General Administration Department of the Punjab.

The posting of Shahid Saleem Baig has been notified by the chief secretary.

Shahid Saleem Baig had been working as DIG Prison Rawalpindi Region before being posted as IG Prison Punjab.

Meanwhile, District and Sessions Judge Islamabad Chaudhry Mumtaz Hussain, and Additional District Sessions Judges Mohammad Adnan and Mohammad Wasim Rafiq on Friday visited Adiala jail.

They visited various barracks, and a workshop and later ordered release of four prisoners who had been in jail on charges of petty crimes.

The four prisoners were released on personal sureties.
