Three killed in road accidents

RAWALPINDI, Aug 24: Three persons, including an employee of the Prime Minister House, were killed in separate road accidents in Islamabad on Sunday, police and hospital authorities said.

Mohammad Bakhsh, a washerman at the PM House, died after being run over by a passenger wagon (LOK-2565) near Bari Imam shrine.

In another incident, Nusrat Khan, 18, was killed after a speeding car (STC-9360) hit him near Tarnol. The boy was crossing the road when he was knocked down by the car, the police said.

The car driver, who is yet to be identified by the police, himself shifted the victim to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, but he disappeared from the hospital when he came to know that the boy had died.

Similarly, a motorcyclist, Mohammad Khalil, was killed while two other persons riding another motorbike were critically injured after their vehicles crashed into a wall due to reckless driving on the Islamabad Highway.

Meanwhile, as many as 33 members of a wedding party were injured when the bus they were travelling in overturned near Chirah Chowk, Bhara Kahu.

The bus (RIR-2387) was heading towards Kotli Sattian from Rawalpindi. Out of the 33 injured, three persons including the bus driver sustained critical injuries.
