KARACHI: The body of an 11-year-old girl was found at a deserted place in the Sohrab Goth area on Monday.

She was kidnapped, raped and murdered, according to police and hospital officials.

Police said the body was recovered from the bushes in Ayub Goth in the limits of Sohrab Goth police. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for a post-mortem.

ASH additional police surgeon Dr Rohina Hassan told Dawn that the girl was subjected to sexual assault and strangulated to death. There were early signs of decomposition, which indicated that she was murdered several hours earlier before her body was found on Monday afternoon. Malir SSP Rao Anwar Ahmed said it appeared as if the girl was kidnapped, raped and murdered somewhere else. Later on, her body was thrown there. Her hands were also burnt.
