Duty on imports

Published October 21, 2017

THE government has shown its weak points and imposed a regulatory duty on a number of imported items.

However, the measures taken by the government through regulatory duties wouldn’t help the economy, the external trade or industry, debts or any of the short-term or long-term challenges. Our economic managers are under a great political pressure from TV talk shows and hurting themselves and the economy because of misconceptions created by the media.

The economic managers must not surrender to propaganda as the economy has been consistently stable and the growth numbers through statistics are enough to prove that except for the failure of the export sector, not much has gone wrong.
