GUJRAT: The Punjab government plans to establish computerized land record centers (CLRCs) at the union council level and introduce mobile land record vans to facilitate public in getting ownership documents of their properties and lands.

An official source told Dawn the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) has already started working on these projects.

He said after the completion of data centralization in all the 36 districts of Punjab, the PLRA would launch mobile vans carrying computerized data which would visit far-flung areas to provide ownership documents (fard Malkiat), transfer deeds of ownership documents and other such upgradatoin of the record.

He said in the next phase CLRCs would be opened at the union council level as people had to travel a lot to reach tehsil level record centers.

It is learnt that a pilot project in this regard has been under process in Sahiwal tehsil.

Meanwhile, the PLRA has also signed an agreement with the Bank of Punjab (BoP) to open CLRC counters in BoP branches where people could get the facility regarding their land revenue matters.

CENTRALISATION: The centralization of CLRCs has been completed in 28 out of 36 districts whereas eight districts, including four from Gujranwala division (Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot and Narowal) have been lagging behind in this regard.

According to the centralization plan, a litigant can get his ownership document from any tehsil level CLRC other than of his home tehsil across the province.

Official sources say work in remaining districts has also been accelerated.
