The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) held a press conference on Sunday to announce the addition of new faces to the party, including renowned fashion designer Deepak Perwani and other members of the civil society.

"These individuals have their own standing in the fields of fine arts, fashion, civil services," said MQM-P leader Dr Farooq Sattar. "We will use their services in different domains of the party [...] and to help train our workers."

Introducing the designer, Sattar joked, "Having him [in the party] will solve the Rabita Committee's problems on Eid."

The new members joining MQM-P include Perwani; retired bureaucrat Javed Hanif; Khurram Rasool, Alamgir Feroz, Imtiaz M. Ali and Saman Laiq Abbasi from the business community; Taufeeq Kochin from the Memon community; and TV personality Nazia Ali.

"It's easy to sit in your house or comment on social media through your computer, and not understand what is actually happening [in the city]," said Perwani at the press conference. "We all live in Karachi, we are all part of Karachi — it's important that we take responsibility for the city."
