KARACHI: As a part of the World Space Week (WSW) celebrations, the Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) opened its two-day Space Fair & Exhibition at the PAF Museum at Karsaz here on Saturday.

The various stalls at the fair saw various competitions under way with students who had entered their projects displaying them as they went about explaining what they had made and how it could be useful. There was the model-making competition where students from 20 schools were busy making replicas of planes and rockets.

During the water rocket competition they turned disposable plastic water bottles into rockets while demonstrating basic principles of physics.

There was also the glider competition and the more serious university project involving six universities with space performing arts, space-related puzzles, a space movie theatre screening movies such as Gravity and Apollo 13 with Urdu translation.

The best part of the activity was that students with special needs were also competing with other students and winning, too.
