TOBA TEK SINGH: A dozen relatives of a girl kidnapped a man whom she allegedly had an affair with and got married to, severely tortured him and shaved his eyebrows, beard and moustaches.

A first information report (FIR) registered with Arrouti police on Saturday under sections 137(V), 337 and 367 of PPC stated that complainant Shahid Ali Saghir of Chak 755-GB had married a girl without the consent of her parents.

A dozen of her relatives, led by Muhammad Ali Munna, kidnapped him at gunpoint from Arrouti bypass road to seek revenge when he was on his way on a motorcycle. They took him to a house, tied him up and severely tortured him by burning parts of his body with an iron. Saghir was admitted to the rural health centre.

Arrouti police Muharrar Ghulam Shabbir said four suspects, Muhammad Ayub, Muhammad Rafiq, Muhammad Ismail and Nafees Ahmad had been arrested, while raids were being conducted to arrest the remaining.

TRAFFIC: Kamalia locals expressed concern over traffic blockade on Chichawatni Road due to the loading and offloading of timber to and from donkey carts at a roadside near bus stop No 3.

They told reporters that long queues of two-way traffic on the highway created hardships for commuters and caused delays in their journeys. They demanded shifting of the saw machines from city to the outskirts to avoid the traffic mess.
