HYDERABAD, Oct 13: The vice chancellor, Sindh Agriculture University Tando Jam, Dr Basheer Ahmed Chandio with immediate effect appointed Prof Dr Gul M Baloch as the Project Director of Livestock Production Project which has been established in the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Faculty.

The project has been established at a cost of Rs38 million with the cooperation of the Science and Technology and Agriculture ministries.

The purpose of the project is to conduct research for increasing the livestock production in the province and will be equipped with latest technology, laboratory and library and latest journals on the subject.

Meanwhile, the university authorities have further announced that regular classes of first, second, third, fourth and M.Sc. second-term classes of all faculties will start from October 15.

The students have been advised in their own interest to attend the classes regularly as no student with less than 75 per cent attendance will be allowed to appear in the examination.

The university has also extended the last date of admissions for the second term in all classes from Oct 15 upto Oct 20 with a late fee of Rs100.

RESULTS: The controller of examinations has announced the results of BSc Part-I (first year) of Crop Production Faculty. The students have been asked to collect their marks sheets from the coordinator concerned.

LUMHS: The registrar, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, announced on Friday that the Sindh governor/chancellor of the university has been pleased to nominate five officers as members of the university syndicate against the category mentioned against their name for a period of three years.

1. Prof Ali M Ansari, former Director General Health, Government of Pakistan, Secretary Health, Government of Sindh as person of eminence.

2. Prof Ghulam Qadir Kazi, chairman Isra Foundation, Isra University, Hyderabad, as person of eminence.

3. Dr Nadeem Qamar, professor of Invasive Cardiology, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Karachi, as person of eminence.

4. Pir Abdul Waheed Jan Sarhandi, Alim-Tando Saindad at Tando Muhammad Khan.

5. Professor Zeenat Issani, Director National Institute of Child Health, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi, eminent woman.

Besides, the other members include Dr A.Q. Mughal, Chairman University Grants Commissioner, Major Khalid Latif Choudhry, Secretary Health, Government of Sindh, Justice Ghulam Rabbani, High Court Sindh, Prof Raza M Shaikh, Dean Faculty of Dentistry, and the elected members Prof Munir Ahmed Junejo, Associate Prof Dr Roshanara Qazi, Assistant Prof Dr Owais Ahmed Shaikh, and lecturer Dr Ali Gohar Shah.

The honourable governor of Sindh/chancellor LUMHS has also appointed Prof Sher M Shaikh, Principal Chandka Medical College, Larkana, and Dr Shams Soomro, Chief Dental Surgeon, Civil Hospital, Karachi, as members of the Academic Council of the University.
