BAGHDAD, Aug 20: A US soldier was killed in Iraq after the vehicle he was travelling in collided with another vehicle when his supply convoy came under fire near ad-Diwaniyah, the US army said on Wednesday.

“One 3rd Corps Support Command soldier was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle accident while driving south on the main supply route southeast of the town of ad-Diwaniyah,” around 180 kilometres south of Baghdad, Central Command said in a statement.

Meanwhile, a US citizen working as an interpreter was killed and two US soldiers wounded in a small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenade attack in Tikrit on Wednesday, the US army said.—AFP
