HYDERABAD, Aug 20: The results of the Higher Secondary Certificate-II, science group, examinations of 2003 were announced by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, on Wednesday.

In the pre-engineering group, the first position went to a girl candidate while second and third positions were secured by boys. A total number of 5,984 students appeared in the examinations. The pass percentage remained 69.58, with 69.97 among boys and 66.29 among girls.

In the pre-medical group, the first position was secured by a girl student, the second was shared by a girl and a boy and the third position was obtained by a girl. As many as 13,734 students appeared in the examinations. The percentage of successful candidates was 60.16 among boys and 66.40 among girls. The pass percentage on the whole was 63.02.

All the three top positions in the general science group went to girls. A total number of 519 candidates appeared in the examinations. The pass percentage among boys was 63.73 and 74.09 among girls. The percentage of successful candidates on the whole remained 67.05.

PRE-ENGINEERING GROUP: Zaibun Nisa, daughter of Khuda Bakhsh Memon, secured the first position with 940 marks, Umair Saeed, son of Saeed Ahmad Yousfani, secured the second position with 929 marks and Kamran Jamil, son of Ghulam Mustafa Jamil, grabbed the third position with 927 marks.
