KARACHI, Aug 20: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) has accused traffic police of creating hurdles in the replacement the 72-inch dia sewerage line which had broken down during the recent rains.

The traffic police, according to a KWSB press release issued on Wednesday, are not allowing digging of the road in front of the Jinnah Courts.

The KWSB warned that a tragic accident might take place at the site of the damage if the line repair work was not carried out.

This sewerage line carries sewage from the old city, Clifton and Cantonment Board areas to sewerage pumping station before its release into the sea at Korangi Creek.

A 10-feet deep hole has developed at the site where the underground sewerage line was damaged.

Acknowledging that the digging would disrupt traffic, the KWSB argued that alternative routes could be used to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, the KWSB has claimed that the water line which got burst on Tuesday, had been repaired and that normal water supply through this line would be restored by Thursday night.—PPI
