LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Saturday sealed the Health Department’s cafeteria, imposed fines on eateries and issued warning notices to 48 others.

According to a spokesperson for the PFA, a team reached the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department on Birdwood Road and inspected its cafeteria. It found that the cafeteria administration had neither obtained food licence from the authority nor had got medical certificate of its workers from any public hospital.

The team also found a huge number of flies on the premises and cigarette buds on the floor. Since the workers’ physical cleanliness too was also not up to the mark, the team sealed the cafeteria.

On the other hand, the PFA teams imposed a heavy fine on Mehroz Desi Food Centre (Moon Market, Iqbal Town) and Lahori Chatkhara (Gulberg III) for using substandard colours, dirty freezers and use of drums in violation of the hygiene standards.

The teams also issued warning notices to Goodluck Bakers, Al-Imran Milk Shop, Zaiqa Restaurant, Bismillah Milk Shop, Zaiqa Nan Shop, Sardar Milk Shop, Data Pan Shop, Day and Night Paan Shop, Al-Fazal Caterers, Mian General Store, Mecca Nan Shop, Mecca Fish Corner, Ali Hajveri Barbecue & Tikka, Kashmir Nan Tikki, Bismillah Hotel, Allah Waris Milk Shop and Nauman Nan Shop.
