PESHAWAR, Aug 19: The Health Regulatory Authority (HRA) has pledged to check irregularities in the health sector.

The provincial government had constituted the HRA in the first week of August to keep a check on the private and public sector health facilities in the province.

The authority held its maiden meeting on Tuesday to deliberate on the issues confronting the health sector.

Talking to Dawn HRA Chairman Islam Bahadur Khan said: “It was a preliminary meeting, therefore, we didn’t take any concrete decisions. We just deliberated on the issues and hopefully we will take solid decisions in the next meeting.”

He said the NWFP health minister, Inayatullah Khan, also attended the meeting and pledged to empower the HRA to identify problems and initiate actions aimed at bringing reforms in the health sector.— Correspondent
