Dawn.com won two awards at the prestigious World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) South Asian Digital Media Awards 2017. The association announced winners at the WAN-IFRA India conference in Chennai on Wednesday.
The digital publication won the silver and bronze titles in the Best Data Visualisation category for:
From Pakistan, the Jang Media Group won the silver title in the Best Innovation New Product category for its recently launched Jang Real mobile app.
The Best News Website category was dominated by India, where The Hindu, The Quint and NDTV won the gold, silver and bronze titles, respectively.
The Best Innovation to Engage Youth Audience category was also introduced this year; The Hindu won the gold title for its Young World Club in this category.
The awards — a joint initiative by WAN-IFRA and Google — recognise best practice innovation in digital publishing worldwide. It is presented in every region: South Asia, Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and Latin America.
The winners from each region subsequently compete for the World Digital Media Awards to be announced in Berlin on October 10 during the World Publishing Expo & Digital Content Expo.

A very nice and unbiased paper. Although I feel "moderates" (rather ignore) a lot of my very sensible comments. I say sensible because at times there own articles and editorials are speaking the same. Although I understand coming from an outsider that too an Indian can be a little too pragmatic to accept. Congrats! If we know one thing good in Pakistan - it is Dawn. Dawn is doing an excellent work for Pakistan and for the region through restrictions from institution in Pakistan. Hope democracy in Pakistan will be stronger over the years and media will be free from all restrictions.

Congrats DAWN. You deserve it. Start a separate column where people can drop activation ideas on subjects ranging from Climate Change, Women Empowerment, Child Labour, etc. As a publication house, you can spearhead those. It will be interactive as it would involve your existing readers and can bring in more readers into the fold. Nothing so big deal about The Quint or NDTV. They are just smart in sniffing ideas and taking those forward at times roping in celebrities (typical subcontinental syndrome). Will be more than willing to share ideas. Cheers! An Indian reader of yours.
