Tour match ends in stalemate

LAHORE, Aug 18: The four-day match between Pakistan Under-19 and their Sri Lanka counterpart ended in a draw at Colombo, according to a message received on Monday.

Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 243 in the first innings due to a century hit by middle-order batsman M E Maharoof.

He hit 11 fours and two sixes. Medium-pacer Amir Yousaf picked up three for 49 while Mohammad Altaf and Hidayatullah Khan earned two wickets each for 45 and 43 runs.

Pakistan responded strongly, scoring 333 in the first innings thanks to captain Khalid Latif (77, eight fours), Salman Qadir (82, nine fours), Naeem Ahmad (50, three fours, one six) and Aamir Yousaf (49, four fours, three sixes, 41 balls).

The home side main attack bowler Chanaka claimed four wickets for 94.

SRI LANKA U-19 (1st innings): 243 for all in 85.1 overs (ME Mahroof 101, ADC Kulazathe 38, N Navela 38; Amir Yousaf 3-42, Mohammad Altaf 2-45, Hidayatullah Khan 2-43). And 243 for four in 92 overs (AD Kulazathe 64, N Navela 36, JK Silva 66, Ratnayake 26 not out; Riaz Afridi 2-49).

PAKISTAN UNDER-19 (1st innings): 333 for all in 88.5 overs (Salman Qadir 82, Khalid Latif 77, Naeem Ahmad 50, Amir Yousaf 49; Chanka 4-94, Abeydeera 2-47).
