JHANG, Aug 18: The Kotwali police have registered a counter FIR in the last month’s courtroom shootout case.

Three peoples were killed, including the alleged assailant in the shootout, and three others, including a manager of Interior Minister Faisal Saleh Hayat, were injured in the incident.

The police registered a case on the complaint of Hasan Raza, a cousin of Haider Ali Shah alias Chanpir, seriously injured in the shootout, against five people, Ziafat Bhatti, Liaquat Bhatti, Khalid Bhatti, Babar Bhatti and Nawaz, the alleged assailant who was killed in the shootout by the police firing.

No arrest from either side has so far been reported.

POLLS PUT OFF: The election to the office of Naib Nazim of Shorkot tehsil, which fell vacant after the death of Makhdoom Iftikhar Qureshi, has been postponed after the creation of a new tehsil, Ahmadpur Sial in the Shorkot sub-division.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hakim Ali, Malik Iftikhar Husain, Syed Asad Hayat, Khawar Sipra and Sheikh Yaqoob have filed nomination papers for the office of district Naib Nazim.

For the office of Jhang tehsil Naib Nazim, Tahir Abbas Sial, Arshad Gujjar, Hakim Ali Sheikh, Sultan Sikandar Bharwana, Mushtaq Ahmad and Sakhi Naul, have filed their papers.
