KARACHI, Aug 18: The Board of Secondary Education, Karachi (BSEK), announced on Monday the results of Secondary School Certificate Part-I (Class-IX), annual examination, 2003, of General Group for both regular and private candidates.

As per statistics, the total number of candidates registered for the examination were 43,758 (private- 6,233 and regular-37,525), whereas in all 42,197 students (private- 5,837 and regular-36,360) appeared, and 1,561 students (private-396 and regular-1,165) absented.

As many as 19,664 candidates (private- 2,533 and regular- 17,131) passed in five papers, 9,386 students (private-1,392 and regular-7,994) cleared four papers, 6,320 students (private- 908 and regular-5,412) passed in three papers, 3,671 candidates (private- 497 and regular-3,174) cleared two papers, while 2,109 students (private-343 and regular-1,766) could pass in one paper.

Pass percentages for private candidates, who appeared in five papers is 43.40; four papers, 23.85; three papers, 15.56, two papers; 8.51 and for those who appeared in one paper, it is 5.88, while pass percentage for regular candidates appearing in five papers remains, 47.11; four papers, 21.99; three papers, 14.88; two papers, 8.73 and for one paper, 4.86.

Combined pass percentages for both private and regular candidates is: Five papers, 46.60; four papers, 22.24; three papers, 14.98; two papers, 8.70 and for one paper, 5.00.—PPI
