PESHAWAR, Aug 17: A former TV and Pushto movie artiste Muntazim Shah was arrested here on Sunday on charges of car-lifting from Cantonment area, said an official police statement.

It said the police was investigating a car-lifting case registered two months ago with West-Cantt police station. Finding solid proof against Muntazim Shah, son of Syed Mudassar Shah, a resident of village Ghari Saidan, on the city outskirts, the Peshawar police arrested him with a stolen car from the cantonment area.

During the interrogation, the accused, an MBA, confessed to lifting the car from the PTV Peshawar centre’s car parking. He also confessed to lifting many cars in the city during the last couple of years, the police statement said.

Separately, the city police arrested two car-lifters and recovered a stolen car from their possession from Shoba Bazaar on Sunday.

According to a press release, the police were tipped-off about the presence of two car-lifters in Shoba Bazaar. The police set up a road-blockades on the exit routes from the bazaar and arrested the two. The statement did not provide names of the accused.
