KARACHI: Promising pugilists from Karachi Greens clinched the All-Sindh National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) Independence Day under-16 boxing tournament which concluded at the Ali Mohamma Qambrani Stadium, Kakri Ground, on Friday.

The winning outfit fetched five golds and one silver to dominate the two-day competition.

Mirpurkhas seized one gold and one silver to finish runner-up

Those who did Karachi Greens proud by securing the gold medals include Munir Kachi in 44kg, Shahbaz Jan in 46 kg, Sajid Rasheed in 48 kg, Ubaid Khan in 50 kg and Naimatullah in 52 kg.

Najat gave Mirpurkhas its only gold medal in the 54 kg when he outpointed Baseer of Karachi Greens in the final by 3-0.

The NBP Sports and CSR chief Ovais Asad Khan, who graced the finals, gave away the prizes.

The secretary of the Sindh Boxing Association Asghar Baloch, 1972 Olympian Malang Baloch, Abid Brohi, Siddiq Qambrani, Sajid Raja (PAF), Mohammad Saleem Baloch (Mirpurkhas), Ashiq Sheikh (Larkana), Zahid Baloch (Hyderabad) and Rana Wajid (Benazirabad) were among others who were also present.

Final results:

44 kg: Munir Kachi (Karachi Greens) bt Majid (Mirpurkhas) 2-1.

46 kg: Shahbaz Jan (Karachi Greens) bt Hamdan (Karachi Whites) 3-0.

48 kg: Sajid Rasheed (Karachi Greens) bt Jawwad Khan (Karachi Browns) 3-0,

50 kg: Ubaid Khan (Karachi Greens) bt Abdullah (Larkana) 2-1,

52 kg: Naimatullah (Karachi Greens) bt Mohammad Ilyas (Karachi Whites) 3-0.

54 kg: Najat (Mirpurkhas) bt Baseer (Karachi Greens) 3-0.
