FAISALABAD, Aug 16: SP (investigation) Muhammad Omar Sheikh on Saturday formally took over the additional charge of the district police officer from Zafar Abbas Lak.

The post of the DPO fell vacant on July 23 following the transfer of Mr Lak, who was directed to report to the S&GAD.

The issue of relinquishing charge from Zafar Abbas Lak was also debated in the provincial assembly at least thrice, and Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat had assured the house that the transfer orders would be implemented in letter and spirit.

According to an official handout issued here on Saturday, Faisalabad Range DIG Abid Saeed has ordered SP (investigation) Muhammad Omar Sheikh to look after the work of the DPO, besides, his job till further orders.
