LAHORE: PPP nominee for by-polls in National Assembly constituency NA-120, Faisal Mir, has announced moving the Lahore High Court against rejection of his objections to the nomination of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz by the election tribunal.

“The tribunal did not even ask the departments concerned about the objections I’d submitted against Begum Kulsoom on certain legal grounds,” Faisal Mir said here on Monday.

He insisted that the tribunal should have asked the departments concerned about the points raised in his petition against the PML-N nominee before rejecting the same.

Mr Mir also announced challenging the nomination of PTI’s Dr Yasmin Rashid who, he claimed, also didn’t qualify to run for the seat for not properly following the procedure set for getting a political party’s ticket.

He deplored the [alleged] police action against PPP workers running his election campaign and alleged that the Punjab government was using state resources for electioneering of the former first lady.

Meanwhile, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has reached the city after visiting Mansehra and Kaghan valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and addressing public meetings there. He’ll chair a meeting of the Lahore organisation here on Tuesday to discuss and finalise strategy for NA-120 by-polls.
