LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) alleges that state resources are being used to run election campaign of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz nominee in National Assembly constituency NA-120 by-election.

“Federal Minister Pervaiz Malik and MNA Hamza Shahbaz along with provincial ministers and MPs are using the Chief Minister’s Office for running election campaign of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz,” PPP nominee Faisal Mir alleged here on Sunday.

Speaking at a meeting, he demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) take notice of the situation as the PML-N was using public money and machinery for influencing and rigging results of the NA-120 by-polls. He said the ECP must not play the role of a silent spectator and take action for the sake of credibility of the electoral exercise.

Meanwhile, central Punjab Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) information secretary Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has termed former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar’s press conference a pack of lies. Mr Khokhar alleged that Mr Nisar was the biggest hurdle in the implementation of the National Action Plan and that Justice Faiz Esa Commission report speaks volumes for the performance of the interior ministry.

He said as Mr Nisar had been meeting members of banned outfits, the latter could not take credit for army operations against the terrorists.
