SAHIWAL: Six officials of the forest department were booked for illegally cutting and selling trees worth Rs300,000.

Reports said national highway forest guard Shaukar Ali along with his accomplices Muhammad Arslan, Waseem Akram, Fida Husain and three others allegedly cut 24 trees near Kotla Adeeb Shaheed railway station and sold the wood in market.

Forest department supervisor Abdul Majeed investigated the matter and later got a case registered against the suspects.

RESCUE 1122: Rescuers could not recover body of a woman who drowned in the Lower Bari Doab Canal while washing clothes near Sharif Colony on Saturday morning.

Rescue 1122 sources said around 5-6 divers were trying their utmost to recover the body.

Razia Bibi was washing clothes on Right Bank of the canal when her foot slipped and she fell into the canal.
