I BELIEVE Lord Denning’s words of wisdom are being followed in letter and spirit in Pakistan over the years. We see the criticism of the judicial decisions and verdicts and see parallel trials on media with accusations and innuendos being hurled at the judiciary with impunity.
Did Lord Denning opine on the responsibilities of media while reporting court trials or proceedings?
Unfortunately, the media in Pakistan, both electronic and print, have gone completely berserk with a toothless Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority as a regulatory watchdog looking on helplessly.
Lord Denning must be turning in his grave to see what we have done while interpreting his pearls of wisdom.

Lord Denning did not say media should not pick up holes in judicial judgments that are so porous. Panama petition initially rejected, entertained but left to be heard ab initio by CJP Taj Mohammad Jamali, galling obiter dicta on IB, Nab, SECP, cherry picked JIT members, final verdict not on requested relief for corruption but on extraneous iqama. Speaker is always from the majority party. But the Justice Khosa even assailed speaker's position as partisan. Just read and you would know it is not all hunky dory with the decision. Who pays the members' bills? Could an honest gov servant afford the membership? I for one, a retd Grade 19 officer, could not afford it even after 39 years's service.
