Sindh’s Hindus

TO remind Deepak Perwani, ‘rich face no problems’ not only in Pakistan but anywhere in the world. The passport is money, not your faith or colour.

Today at least 30 per cent of Pakistanis can’t make both ends meet. First of all, why should we be labelled ‘minorities’. Is this land not ours? After all, we too have a 400-year-old history.

Were we not told that we have equal rights. Where has that promise faded away, just like the pailing of the ‘white’ in our flag. I still remember going proudly to the parade ground on August 14,1948, all dressed up with hope in my eyes and a smile on my face.

It is sad that our girls are taken away, repeatedly, creating another form of partition. My friend Dr Ramesh Kumar and the Pakistan Hindu Council are at it trying to get laws enacted for their safety.

On my side, I have been fighting to get back the Hindu Gymkhana Association building and property in Karachi back for the Hindus.

I hope the new prime minister can look into his heart to do justice by restoring our rights in the true spirit of independence.
