A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jet crashed near Sargodha while on a training mission on Thursday, a press release issued by PAF said. The pilot ejected the aircraft safely.
"Pakistan Air Force reports with regret that a PAF F7-PG aircraft, while on a routine operational training mission, crashed near Sargodha. The pilot of the aircraft ejected safely," the statement read.
No loss of civilian life and property has been reported on the ground, it said.
"A board of inquiry has been ordered by Air Headquarters to determine the cause of [the] accident."
A little over a week ago, a senior PAF officer had embraced martyrdom when his aircraft crashed near Mianwali while on a routine operational flight.
Wing Commander Mohammad Shahzad was flying an F-7 aircraft when it reportedly encountered a technical fault and crashed near the Sabzazar area of Mianwali late on August 8.
F7-PGs were first inducted in the PAF in 2002 as a replacement for the F-6, which were then decommissioned. The trainer FT-7PGs came later. The PAF had previously operated F-7Ps.
About 10 or 11 F7-PGs/FT-7PGs have been lost during their 15 years in service. The PAF has more than 50 of the Chinese-made aircraft in its fleet.
The losses of F7-PGs/FT-7PGs in air crashes are within normal limits, aviation experts claim.

How ??? 2 planes in 2 weeks and that is considered normal by experts ? Who are these experts nd what qualifications do they have? ..why don't they fly these planes the ? There is either something wrong with the planes or with the maintenance crew on the ground

Cheap, unreliable and technologically inferior Chinese aircrafts are killing our air force officers. We need to purchase American or French made planes. Protection of life of the air force men & women must be paramount and first consideration

Yet another one. Lost count of these. How many more precious lives do we have to lose before grounding these death traps. The ones earlier sacrificed included the first ever Pakistani female fighter pilot, a sword of honor and others best of the best. This is now criminal on part of leadership.

These jets keep crashing regularly. Does the PAF investigate the reasons for these crashes and what steps are taken to improve their safety record. As a tax payer I am concerned since with each crash the country loses another jet and more importantly lives of hardworking and dedicated pilots are lost with years of training.

Quite a few crashes in short span of time. Loss is irrevocable if pilot is lost along with the plan. PAF should look into this seriously and fix what ever causes are involved in the crash.

@Einstein babar. If you consider its origins then yes F7 is based on a soviet MIG but is built in china. But if you go by origin then everything chinese is a ripoff..actually even JF17 also is a chinese ripoff of a soviet MIG. Anyhow these training accidents or unfortunate but happen worldwide, glad no loss of life here.

Serious reconsideration needed to set the normal attrition rate for these flying machines, Our pilots are far more valuable. If these machines have served there purpose, please move on, ground them.Too many accidents and loss of precious lives.

America, France, UK, Sweden and Russia will not be able to supply any aircraft to Pakistan because of specific clauses in their very recent defense purchase agreements with India.

Chengdu J-7/F-7 Vanguard is a third-generation fighter aircraft, having its first flight in 1966.. These jets are old, outdated and no longer airworthy. We need to speed up our production of JF-17's in order to decommission and replace such outdated planes..

Non of these countries have made any such 'agreement', India tried to pressure France to deny any sale of Rafael to Pakistan while negotiations were still going on about Rafael but France did not agree to India's term. America,UK,Sweden did not make any such 'agreements' as well. Russia also did not make a deal but in fear of losing their Defense purchaser India as China has decreased supporting instead spends that money at doing R&D themselves.

@Dan , Glitches are part of any automation where even spacecrafts encounter defect and get destroyed. There is no expert-ism when it comes to technical faults. These aircraft are made for training and used for longer period which cause it to be worn out and frequently defective operating status.

F7 are licensed copy of Mig 21. this plane has claimed lot of Indian lives as well. The are called "flying coffins". The only reason India tilted from Russia towards France, US, Israel and other markets was Russia's insistence of buying these Migs as part of any other deal. Paksitan should start to develop its own aircraft.

God knows combat pilots all over the world have families too ... at least give them safe planes to risk their lives for arm chair aviation experts!!!

These aviation "experts" think that a crash a week of the same type of aircraft is "within normal bounds"? It is the same Chinese airplane that keeps crashing, and we Pakistanis are supposed to base our defense on it? The enemy will not have to do anything; we will wipe out our air force ourselves.
