LAHORE, Aug 15: The city police chief on Friday suspended two SHOs from service.

Khwaja Khalid Farooq said in a statement that Sherakot police SHO inspector Zahid Pervaiz and Islampura police SHO inspector Pervaiz Hussain Butt were found involved in corruption. Directing them to report to the district police lines, the police chief also ordered departmental proceedings against the two officials.

Meanwhile, Baghbapura police claimed on Friday to have arrested five accused allegedly involved in murders and cases of kidnapping for ransom.

Identifying them as Ramzan, alias Jani, Amin, Sabir Husain, Muhammad Munir and Khalil Ahmad, the police alleged they had kidnapped Ayoub from Manawan on Thursday. The accused had demanded Rs500,000 as ransom for the safe release of the kidnapped.

Following telephonic messages of the accused, Baghbanpura police ASP Capt Muhammad Sohail (retired) said, a place at Bheeni Dhalwaan was raided and the accused were arrested. The victim was also released from the hideout where he had been chained.

Four rifles, two guns, five mausers, eight magazines and over 1,000 bullets were seized from the arrested men. Further investigation is under way.
